How to setup Bounce Handling POP3 method?
This method is based on a pop3 account and delivery reports of bounced email address.
When an email is sent from oemPro to a bounced email address, a delivery error report comes back. oemPRo checks this delivery reports and assigns that email adress as bounced email.
First of all you have to create an email address that will handle bounced emails. For example, it can be “bounce@yourwebsite.com”.
After this you have to add this email address as a mailbox to oemPro. Open Mail Lists –> Mail Boxes menu:
Click on Create Mail Box link:
Then fill the requested fields that are related with your email address that you have created for bounced emails.
Select Bounce Handling:
Then select the mail lists that will be assigned to the mail box.
You can do multiple selections with ctrl + mouse click in windows and apple + mouse click with mac.
Auto Request Processing Field is not related with bounce handling so do not change anything in that field.
The first time an email address is assigned as a bounced email, it is a soft bounce. Soft bounced emails will still receive emails from you, until they are assigned as a hard bounce. You can set after how many soft bounce detections an email address will be assigned as a hard bounce from this field:
At last set how many emails are processed at one time:
Click on Add, now your mail box for bounce handling is created.
While creating a campaign in 3rd step, you will select a return-path for your campaign. Delivery reports are send to the return-path of your campaign, so you have to select the mail box we just created the return-path of your campaign.
After campaign sending the campaign is finished, we have to run the cron for bounce handling if it is not already added in cron jobs. Open Settings –> Scheduled Tasks Menu.
Then click on execute next to Bounce Tracking and Handling.
After running the cron, oemPro will detect bounced emails in your mail lists.
