What is load balancing?

If you are on a shared or limited server and need to adjust the load on your server, you can make this easily with Oempro.

Oempro has two types of load balancing:

  • System wide load balancing
    Applies to all sending methods
  • SMTP wide load balancing
Applies to only preferred SMTP servers

Load balancing is a special technology which lets Oempro to send out a defined amount of emails and then wait for the defined number of seconds to give mail server sometime.  This is quite useful on shared hosting accounts especially.

To enable load balancing, follow these steps:

  1. Click ‘Settings > Preferences’ link

  2. Click ‘Load Balancing’ tab

  3. Set the maximum number of campaigns that can be sent at the same time. We strongly recommend you to keep this amount high as much as you can such as 10 or 20.

  4. Enable load balancing feature by selecting ‘Enabled’ from the list

  5. Define the number of emails that should be sent at a time. If you are on a shared hosting, contact your hosting company and learn their email sending limits. For example, if the limit is 300 emails per hour, set this option to 300

  6. Set the number of seconds to wait before sending the next email packet (which is set to 300 emails in 5th step). Based on the example above, set this to 3600 seconds to wait for 1 hour

That’s all. Once you set your load balancing settings, Oempro will start to send the defined amount of emails and then wait for the defined amount of seconds for the next send process.

Alternatively, instead of setting a global load balancing feature, you can set SMTP server specific load balancing. To do this, follow these easy steps:

  1. Go to ‘Mail Lists > Send Engines’ section

  2. Edit the send engine (SMTP server) you want to apply load balancing
  3. In send engine details page, you will see ‘Load Balancing’ section. Change the values emails per interval and seconds to wait between intervals to enable load balancing for the selected send engine.
  4. If you want to disable load balancing, simply enter 0 to both fields.
